Welcome to Our Office
Your First Appointment
During your first appointment, you will receive a thorough dental examination of your mouth tissues including the teeth, supporting bone, jaw joints, muscles, your smile and esthetics.
X-rays will be taken, as needed, with your permission. If necessary, impressions of your teeth will be made to create diagnostic models. With this information, we will be able to recommend the most appropriate level of care based on your needs and desires.
A separate consultation appointment may be scheduled to provide more time for Dr. Pontikes to study the collected diagnostic information. On the day of the consultation appointment, an in-depth discussion will take place of the appropriate treatment and fees involved.

Dentistry requires understanding, respect and trust towards your doctor. Therefore, we ask that you have confidence in our judgments and treatment recommendations. Our policy is to offer the best care with the highest standards possible. If you consider it necessary, do not hesitate to seek another opinion.
Please note, the dentist’s treatment recommendations are not affected by the presence or absence of insurance benefits; treatment recommendations are solely based on your dental needs and desires.
Emergency Care
We recognize that emergency situations do arise during office hours, and we will do our best to respond promptly to your needs. Relief of your discomfort is our priority.
If you have a dental emergency when the office is closed, please call 847-670-7500. You will receive instructions on how to reach Dr. Pontikes and have the opportunity to leave a message.
Routine Visits and Personalized Care
All patients are scheduled with sufficient time for each appointment. This is necessary to ensure quality in the dentistry provided and gives us the opportunity to cultivate the patient-doctor relationship. There is always time for questions and thorough discussion of recommended treatment. Furthermore, we always strive to provide punctual care. We know your time is as valuable as ours.
Comprehensive Care
Our staff will contact you in advance to confirm your appointment which has been reserved exclusively for you. However, even if we are unable to reach you, we know that we can count on you to be here as promised. Since we do not overbook, a “no-show” means an empty office for us and consequently is a loss to three people: you — the patient, another patient who could have benefited from your time slot and the doctor who was fully staffed and prepared for your appointment.
We understand that even the most reliable people occasionally have to reschedule their appointments. Therefore, should you need to cancel, kindly give us a minimum of 24 – 48 hours notice.
Insurances Accepted
We are in network with many dental insurance plans. Please
call our office for more information and to verify that we are in network with your particular dental plan. Some of the plans we are in network with are: Guardian PPO, MetLife PPO, Aetna PPO, and UnitedHealthcare PPO. In addition, we are out of network providers for Delta Dental PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Cigna PPO, and Humana PPO.
